The Lash DTLA 11.8.16

Even though with all the madness going on in the US at the moment Tuesday night i got the chance to vibe out for a bit at the Lash in DTLA with the Backroom crew and loved ones. It’s always a great feeling when you are surrounded with people who love and support you to the fullest. I am very thankful… I had a hour set filled with nothing but Deep house. Here is a mix of the 1st 30mins of it. Click Here to listen. Photos provided by Aaron Klisman

Kindred Spirits

I stopped by the Soulection HQ to vibe out with my man Joe Kay for a bit it was long overdue. I’ve been a fan of the movement and what him and his team has been building for some time now. It’s so cool to see a group of true creatives come together to truly do what they love and somehow build something that is so organic that inspires so many people. I remember when i first got put on to the Soulection  soundcloud by a buddy of mine named Charlie a few years back. From what i remember around that time Joe Kay was running the Soulection station from his college in Long Beach and now to see him have his own HQ and a show on Beats1 is beyond inspiring.

Even though we did not kick it for too long i must say it was very refreshing to link up with a Kindred spirit and exchange jazz/house music we both enjoyed. As i get older and grow i begin to see the importance of connecting with others but most importantly with like minded people.

You don’t have to have a million friends trust me i don’t myself but it’s always good to hang with people of quality that are like minded and inspire you.

The Process

Just finished up this “That one jazz song” painting. I am happy how it turned out… I’m honestly already putting together another painting but want to get back to some photography work and after some drawing. I have a few ideas that i’ve been sitting on and have to bring them to life. It’s very important for me to stay busy with all my creative outlets. I for some reason have a very short attention span so painting for too long or doing anything for too long never works out for me. I guess thats why I could never just do one thing and always wanted to do everything i enjoy on a daily basis. While painting I’ve been learning to fall in love with the process just as much as i love the ending result. It’s always amazing to see things start with an idea and blossom into wonderful works. I guess thats something i can personally transition into my daily life. We all have goals and things we are aiming for on a daily and it is so easy to get discouraged on the path to those destinations but falling in love with the journey… Falling in love with the process… Just as we do the end result can make such a greater difference.
